Re: Hand #4: AK after continuation bet
Ok...check-folding is my standard play , but I would like to dig deeper into this hand. What hand could he have that makes sense here? If he has AA or KK, he would reraise PF. Therefore I put him on AK-AQ or TT-QQ looking for a nice flop, or maybe lower pockets looking for a set.
The flat call on the flop seemed horribly weak and the pot was quite big, I wanted to take the pot down right there. I pushed the turn making it very difficult for him to call without a monster. I'm sure I'm gonna get reemed on this one and probably deserve it, but hey, what the hell (at least it worked ) |

Re: Hand #4: AK after continuation bet
I think a middle pair and a spade draw are both quite likely holdings, both of which will call you.

You arent deep enough in chips to do any investigation. So if you want to try something creative, try something which involves small bets In addition, your flop bet is pretty weak as well. Against a good opponent that can mean his flop call is weak as well. But I'm not quite sure what you are trying to represent with a push. Can you describe another hand, that you would play the same way, which is pretty strong on this board. |

Re: Hand #4: AK after continuation bet
With the UTG raise, the way I played the hand was screaming AA/KK. I thought there was a good chance I could get him off mid pair or overcards with a flush draw (which I thought were his most likely holdings).

[/ QUOTE ] It doesnt matter what you though you were screaming. Tell me that if you had AA or KK, you would play the hand the same way. in fact just pretend you had AA/KK, and ask yourself how you would play the flop and the turn? Does that include betting half the pot on the flop, and pushing the turn?? |
