usually when i get a real bad beat it is a good idea to take a breather. I read a good post a while back where this person would frequently ask himself, am i playing my best game, and if he could not answer his question yes he knew it was a good time to quit

Here is a few options that I recommend.
1. Load up Doom3, and shoot some zombies.
2. Go out for a smoke

If unfortunately you do not have the game Doom3, and you don't smoke, then...

keep playing, bottle the rage and frustration deep inside you, then unleash it in one massive donk-play.

When I go on tilt, I usually step away from the computer and kick the crap out of my dog. Nah jk. I read a great article by Phil Gordon and he makes a good point that, a good player will only ever be the recipient of a bad beat and never deliver one, as only the gamblers tend to suck out by the river. Also, just say to yourself "in the long run I'll be a winner" over and over again.

Agreed. I suck out on people all the time. Not intentionally, obviously, but sometimes you think you're ahead when you're behind, and boom, you hit that magical two-outer.

To the OP: one thing I do is immediately jot a note down on the guy who sucked out on me (given that it truly was suckout, like a dude who chased his gutshot when he had no odds). And I try to make it as constructive as possible in order to help me remember just how much money that same guy is going to be worth in the future.

Not sure if this works for anyone else, but it definitely helps me channel my tilt constructively.
