Tip: \"I went over on my cell phone minutes\"
I don't know if this is standard, but I was shocked.
I looked up my cell phone bill, and realized I was over by 100 minutes, which translates to $45 extra. I called Verizon to bump up to the next plan for next month (my month ends at the end of tomorrow), and the guy told me he bumped me up to the next plan for this month, meaning that the minutes I had already gone over with would be covered under the new plan, so I wouldn't get charged the extra amount. Plus I've got another 300 minutes to use by tomorrow night. This made my day, because I didn't think it was possible, and in general expect to get screwed in matters like this. Not sure if any other company works like this, but it's a great way to save money if you have an unusually talkative month. FYI. |

I tried this with cingular once, but it wouldn't fly. Ended up racking up a pretty hefty bill while home for the holidays.

Verizon's really good about this. I just upgraded my text package, and they offered to backdate it for this month. I believe they also do this for roaming.

Yeah, it's amazing how they're willing to forego a $45 overage charge in order to realize a $10-20 per month increase for the next 12-36 months.

I can retro-actively purchase 100 minutes for like 5$ at sprint, you just have to call up and bitch.

Re: Tip: \"I went over on my cell phone minutes\"
It's almost certainly the service reps' job to sell plan upgrades, and he probably gets money for it. People lie about [censored] to make more money all the time.
AFAIK, and this was a few years back, you can upgrade your plan without extending your contract, but if you ever downgrade your plan you've got to reup. |
