Default Can\'t watch movies on my computer

If I were to have an episode of a show on my computer, in avi. format . . . what would cause me to be unable to watch it? I have the latest Quicktime Dled. Xvid and Divx are both unpacked on my hard drive.

When I try to open said episode, I get error messages in both BSPlayer and WMP. Quicktime just freezes up. Many times when I click on a link in 2+2 that leads to a video (im using Firefox btw to view 2p2), I get an error message that closes Firefox.

Anyone familiar w/ what would cause this???
