Default Your FU number

Deg in another post said he needs $500k to feel that he never has to work again.

What's your "FU" number, where you feel like past that point, work would be for the love of it, rather than because you have to pay the bills?

To get the ball rolling, mine is $3M (i.e., I'm going to be working for a long time.)

I haven't done any calculations, and I don't really have a good grasp of my yearly spending (I'm still in college). But I tend to worry about money more than most do, so I'd probably want a lot of cushion, in case there was a nasty recession or something (I'm assuming we're investing this FU money). I'm guessing maybe like $5M?

I'm aiming for $1 million. The area I live in has a very low cost of living. I could get by on $25-30k/yr (in today's dollars) for the rest of my life. $1m will give me that and then some.

Rich enough to own my own jet. Rich enough to not waste time. 400-500 million. A player.

Generally -- even if we are not over greedy and after we attain our FU level; we then want maybe double that.... on and on -- just human nature....
