Should I stay at the Trop or Hooters?

I'm going to be in Vegas Aug 6-11 and I'm looking at staying at either the Trop or Hooters. I mainly just plan on sleeping there, since I'll be spending most of my time at the MGM or other casinos/places/restaraunts.

As far as overall quality of rooms and other basic casino amenities which is better? (I assume Hooters will obviously have hot women all over the place which is a plus).

Is the difference in time from Hooters to the MGM poker room that much different then from the Trop? I'm not too familiar with the south-end of the strip.

The trop is probably about two minutes closer (walking) to MGM than Hooters. MGM and Trop are right across the street from each other (on either side of the Tropicana/LVBLV intersection) while Hooters is slightly down Tropicana Ave.

I haven't been in either, but from everything I hear the Hooters place is a dump.

I have stayed at Hooters when it was San Remo and it was a dump! But I have heard the same being said about the Trop. The overpass walk from the Trop will pretty much put you right in the MGM poker room. So if your goal is to be close to the MGM poker room (and you don't mind a crappy room to sleep in), then the Trop will be your place.

Personally, I recommend the Trop (especially if you will be staying in the paradise tower and not the garden rooms).

The Trop has a great vintage feel and vibe, a great pit crew, and not as many drunk college age morons.

Hooters is newer due to the renovation, but it is still San Remo with a pulse. Just a little to trashy for my taste, but that is just me.

Do not stay at Tropicanna. Absoltely the worst place on the strip. You're better off stying at the Sahara and off strip than the Trop. Harrah's or Flamingo for marginally more money but a huge difference in quality and comfort is preferable. Staying at the Tropicanna is a mistake (which I won't make again!). GL.

Much better choice. Bit dingy but head and shoulders above the trop. Poker Room is beatiful there and well run. Have fun! We'll expect a trip report.

The Trop has a much better poker room but horrendous waitresses. It's easier to get to the MGM there too.
