Off the top of my head, I think GoodFellas works about the best in terms of voiceovers in a movie.

I have a soft spot for both the original Blade Runner voice-over (burn the heretic!) and Sunset Boulevard.

The Shawshank Redemption has a pretty good voiceover. According to the triva section on the IMDB page the decision to include the voiceover was influenced by Goodfellas.

speaking of Blade Runner, I've never seen the original version, but I wathched the narrationless director's cut yesterday. are you supposed to be able to figure out all the stuff that was in the voice over? because some of the stuff just didn't seem to be there.

Beat me to it. I have a soft spot for the Blade Runner voice over, too. Although the directors cut was a darker, more intense film, I think the voiceover, or at least, parts of it would have helped illustrate about Decker's memories.

Adaptation i think has a really ingenious way of including voice over as a part of the story as well as the character. So many instances in that movie where the voice over and the spoker dialogue play off each other.

For sheer influence, i think Goodfellas takes the cake. Just for that one line "as far back as i can remember, i always wanted to be a gangster". Although the inclusion of Karen's voice over really was a bad decision, i think.
