Buying a domain and starting a website
I have a lame idea for a website that I think could draw in hundreds of thousands of people. I see that I can buy this domain for $8.95/year at godaddy.com to at least get it up and running. How do I host the website? How much does this cost?

Re: Buying a domain and starting a website
YourMom - Check your PM - I've done a ton of web marketing and may offer some insight.
FWIW, I use godaddy for my domain registration and have had no problems. I use axishost.com for my shared hosting solutions. (low bandwidth). I can recommend bigger server solutions if you need them. |

I see that GoDaddy has a program that helps you create your website. Does this program suck? What program(s) would you recommend?

[/ QUOTE ] You will not use that program for a website that will make money. If you really have a good idea go with a company that can help you get started. You need to spend some money to make some money. Luckily on the web you can spend a little money and make a lot! But if you spend barely anything, a company with more money will just rip off your idea and run with it. |

Re: Buying a domain and starting a website
Buying domains through godaddy is fine. Hosting is another matter, particularly if you plan to build a site that will get a lot of traffic (easier said than done).
And given the OP's noobness, he's probably going to have to hire someone to develop the site anyway. |
