Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
I heard someone hint at this in another post, so I thought I'd ask.
You and villain have even stacks at X point in a SNG. You have KK villain has AA. Baring a K or A on the board, what percentage of the time are you going broke? |

As an example...playing in a single table satellite to the $5,000 WSOP event last July I get KK in the first orbit. I make a standard raise of 3xBB and get raised by the button for just more than a minimum raise. I reraise about twice the size of his total bet and he min raises me again. I know that he either has KK or AA and since I have KK, it is more probable that he has AA. I cannot help myself and I go ahead and move in and he calls with AA. Pre-flop, KK looks so sweet. |

Aside from the times that KK wins against AA, I go broke 100% of the time.

[/ QUOTE ] Well I don't know if you have been watching the US poker championships on ESPN2 but there is a VERY VERY VERY good poker player at the table who's last name is Buffington. He is a complete poker god, just look at how he dumped that 88 last night against that harvard business donkey. Anyway he sat next to me at the main event last year. About 3-4 hours in the table had been getting massacred by a couple of aggro players to our left so he and I instantly get the same idea of slowplaying to catch up with them. I looked down UTG and see KK and limp....and this guy overlimps with AA. I mean WTF!!! Flop comes down JJJ and I bet out, he calls everybody else folds. I figure he dont got me beat but I check, he checks...WTF!!! I bet river and he raises...I call and say "You got the Jack don't you?" He says, no, but I do have two aces....ESPN cameras everywhere...lots of oooos and ahhhhs when I show my KK. I only lost about 1/3rd my stack. So no, you don't always go broke with KK vs AA, but in something like a speed SNG it is very hard not too. Indy |

Re: Do you automatically go broke KK against AA?
Huh? Are you asking if we have KK and the flop is no A or K, will we ever fold?
That seems like what you're asking, in which case it depends on way too many factors to just throw a % out there. The short answer is yes, I'll fold sometimes. Mostly not b/c I'm afraid of AA though. |
