Default Did I play this hand wrong??

Final Table of a local casino 30 player no limit hold em tournament with 3 of us left.

Chip Leader approx 60,000
Me approx 45,000
Short Stack approx 10,000

Blinds at 2500/5000

I'm on the button, chip leader is SB and short stack is BB.

I get QQ. Chip leader has been bullying for a while, seems to be a pretty good player, been going all in often and has had a lot of lucking catching cards on the river. Short stack has been playing pretty tight and obviously in danger of getting blinded out. So I decide to go all in hoping to get SB out of the hand and put my QQ's up against BB who I figure has to call. Didn't go as planned. Both called. SB turns over 99, BB has A-10 H. Flop comes 4-6-J rainbow, so I'm liking my chances. Of course the turn is AS. I'm not happy but I figure I'll get the larger side pot from BB at least. Nope, River is 9C and tournament is over.

Been playing this hand over in my head, and I don't know what else I could have done. Seems like a case of bad luck. Whether I call or raise, SB is going all in based on the way he's been playing. And I know BB is going to call since he has little choice left. The only other thing would have been to fold, but how do you throw away QQ playing 3 handed like that? I'd appreciate anyones thoughts, comments, or suggestions. Thanks

Fine as played if you've been stealing like this lately ... I might raise it up to 3-4xBB to make it look stealish and induce a resteal if they are 'thinking' players. Otherwise fine as played.

Thanks. No, I hadn't really been stealing. Had been playing fairly tight and caught a few cards myself. I thought about putting in a raise like that. But knowing what I know now, the chip leader would have gone all in with his 99 and I have to figure the short stack was too with his A-10 suited. so then I'd have been faced with the decision on whether or not to call with my QQ against 2 players that are all ready all in.

You're right. It does suck. Bad thing is this is like the second week in a row I've taken second like this. Two weeks ago I'm at the final table playing heads up and chip count is close, I'm leader but not by much. I might have 1.5 as many chips. I'm small blind and pick up KK. I decide just to call hoping Big Blind will raise. He just checks and flop comes QH-5D-2S. I bet twice the big blind, and my opponent comes over the top all in. He turns over QD 9H. So I figure I have this won. Nope, turn is QC, river is an Ace. I pretty much have to go all in from here on out, and my J-10 gets beaten by Q-10 when I get outkicked.

It's sorta funny that you even have to ask about this hand. If you think about it, all your chips were going in at some point. If the chip leader was pushing a lot, he was going to push 99. And the short stack was definitely getting his chips in with AT. And if you could even consider folding QQ preflop 3 handed, then you are a better player than I could ever be.

The point is, if you go back and think about this hand, you'll see that no matter how you played it, you were going to lose all your chips. The good news is that the short stack got beat too and you picked up 2nd instead of 3rd even with the bad luck.
