Clinton and Kerry...priceless
Clinton calling the 1st hurricane of the season a "Republican" hurricane.
Kerry's senate vote to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq was voted down 93-7. He's still not sure if he voted for or against the war. The Dems better come up with someone besides Hillary in 08 or it's an easy win for the Republicans whoever they nominate. |

Cowardice
I'm sorry to burst your bubble but that wasn't a "Kerry resolution". Rather, the Republicans pre-empted the Democratic preparations for a resolution demanding a troop pull-out deadline and introduced quickly their own proposal to that effect, but loaded with "patriotic" commentary, stating for example that "the United States will prevail in the global war on terrorism". The proposal also profusely praises U.S. military forces.
Voting against such a proposal would be, once again, politically unthinkable for most senators. (It's cowardice but it's the current political climate in Washington; there you have it.) So, kudos to the Republicans for their tactics on the floor once again. But that was not a "Kerry resolution". |

The Senate Six
BTW, here's the list of the senators who honored the floor with their vote and their refusal to kowtow to scaremongering:
John F. Kerry (Mass.) Ted Kennedy (Mass.) Robert Byrd (WV) Barbara Boxer (Calif.) Russ Feingold (Wis.) Tom Harkin (Iowa). |

Re: The Senate Six
It is incredibly stupid to commit yourself to a troop withdrawal from a war zone on a specific date. Circumstances in global politics can change so quickly.
Of course, it was stupid to send troops to a war that on principle was clearly unnecessary. But where were these Senators' principles then? You can't go back in time to fix a mistake. You have to deal with it the best way possible in the present despite public opinion. |

More sense packed into one post than I heard out of 40% of Congress.

"McCain is far from a Dem in Repuplican garb. "
He's far from my idea of a Republican, about as far off the reservation as Bush. |
