Default Some questions for AC veterans

Just found out that my wife (God love her) is taking me to AC for a weekend as a Father's Day present, despite the fact that she despises poker.

First off, how freaking cool is my wife?

2nd - a few questions and, yes, I did a search but we all know how helpful the search function is:

- I play $5/$10 or $100-$300 max NL. I played at the Trop and a very little bit at the Borg but it was awhile ago. Any other suggestions for places to play (ie high $1/$2 caps etc)

- My wife would like to stay in a hotel w/ a spa. Any hotels with good games and a nice spa?

- I'd like to play in a $75-$200 buy in NL tourney on a weekend...suggestions?

Any other info is helpful. Thanks in advance.

The Borgata'll have all the action you need and a spa. There will be tons of 1-2 NL with a $300 max buyin as well as 2-5 NL. I'm assuming the 5-10 you mention is limit, which they don't have, but they do have a 6-12, which is pretty much the same thing (one could argue that there's more action at the 6-12) Also the Borg has a Sunday morning $100+20 NLH tourney. It's a great hotel casino. You won't regret staying there. Lots of good places to eat, the yummiest pho noodles in town, gorgeous waitresses (well, not that that matters to you with a wife as cool as yours )

Edit: Upon further inspection, it looks like you want some suggestions other than the Borgata. After going to the Borgata, I really don't want to go anywhere else. The Taj has great action, but it is lacking in other areas. The top two casinos with regards to poker in AC is the Borgata and the Taj. If you want the complete package (spa, hotel, food), definitely go with the Borgata.

5/10 is Taj. 4/8 is Trop. 6/12 is Borgata. Everyone has 1/2 NL, which is a 300 max. I was happy with the action at both the Borgata and the Taj in the 1/2 NL. The Taj has 80+20 tourneys every morning at 10:15. The Sat night tourney is 300+40.

Borgata spa, from what I hear, is the best in AC. I've had a massage at the Taj, and it was good. Can't comment on any other services.

Hotel at the Borgata is also at the top. Taj hotel is very plain, though no complaints.

If you're just eating quick food between poker hands, both the Taj and Borgata has quick food close to the rooms. For more gourmet stuff, both casinos have upscale restaurants that need reservations.

The Borgata is definitely prettier, more glamourous looking. Plus, there will be a younger crowd, if that matters. There will also be long lines to almost anything you want to do. You really don't have to wait long for anything at the Taj.

1) Your wife is freaking cool.

2) I think the Trop would be the best overall for you and your wife. Both places have about the same poker selections, but the Trop will definately have more for your wife. It has a nice spa and huge shopping selection with tons of stores. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

You really can't go wrong with either one.

Thans for the help, guys.

Any insight on poker rates/quick comps for either the Trop of Borgata?

EDIT - wtf is up w/ their room rates? $200-$300 a night? Am I spoiled by the $75/night at Turning Stone?

Most likely you can't get the poker room hotel rate unless you have already played there before.

Trop usually has ok hotel rates during the week. The Borgata and Taj are higher. Weekend rates are outragious across the board.

It's been a while since I've been at the Trop...they scan your poker card every hour...every time they scan your card, you get credit for that hour. $1/hr for most low limits, more for the higher limits.

At the Taj and Borgata, you give your poker card to the floorperson when you get seated. It is then your responsibility to "clock out" when you leave. If you do not clock out, you don't get anything.

I usually say the Taj but in your case go to the Borgata. The Borgata is just a better place to bring your wife. There is more stuff for her to do and keep her entertained. It is a very nice place and she may actually really like it. This may induce her to take you AC more often which is obviously ideal.

The Borgata is off the Boardwalk so exploring will be more difficult.
