Washington State to shut down all forms of media?
Ok so the title may be extreme, but how far off is this really. WA has already shut down one site for linking to gaming casinos, they sent a warning to the Seattle times for publishing poker articles by Daniel Negraneau. How far is too far.......I think we are already there.
Think about this, whats to stop them from shutting out all TV programs that show poker, because they all advertise online poker. Whats to stop them from removing all poker playing books from Barnes and Noble, Amazon.....etc. This old saying is always true absolute power corrupts absolutely. |

[/ QUOTE ] The law bans "gambling information". One could reasonably argue that any information on math is "gambling information" because it facilitates gambling and could be used in a gambling activity. In other words, they better ban textbooks, and any ads for, or references to Universities where illegal knowledge could be obtained. College sports, for one, need to go because they include ads for the participating colleges. Like I said in the other string, just hire out of work Taliban officials to implement the enforcement of this law. |

When this gets to the Supreme Court (which it will if they continue such rampant enforcement,) then it dies there. If the court upholds free speech to such a degree that books describing in detail how to make enormous bombs and destroy things are legal, then this law has no prayer.

Poker is a card game no different cribbage say. There is nothing against the law about the card game, it is that money is being gambled.
I really can't see how strategy can be illegal? |

here you go, http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...6_danny15.html
Btw according to the gambling commission if we lived in washington we would be breaking the law right now because we are discussing poker. |

The occurance of sporting events aid in the betting on sporting events.
If discussing poker strategy is against the law, then so is the participation in sports. |

Don't forget to pull every poker book from the shelves of every Barnes & Noble and Borders Books in this state if the book so much as mentions online poker. I believe Doyle plugs his "Doyle's Room" in Super System 2. I think they better extradite him.

Re: Washington State to shut down all forms of media?
While WA's willingness to trample civil liberties so brazenly is extremely frightening, this is also really good news for us in terms of the long-term viability of this law.
