LP raising standards
Watched today a video from CardRunners where muddywater 4tabled PP NL100. I noticed that he didn't seem to like Axo type of hands. For example there was a hand(hope I remember correctly...) where he folded Axo from CO in an unopened pot. Instead of this he was raising all kinds of suited one and two gappers all the time. This made me think...
Me and many respected posters(no, not me here seem to like open raising those hands in stealing purposes, and that kind of advice is given here a lot. Following facts are true to my knowledge. - Axo has nice showdown value in HU pots, suited gapper like 64s doesn't have. - Axo doesn't really have any implied odds, A is usually killing the action, and you might even be dominated. small suited gappers really have the implied odds, and you can still use those to take the pot down on a scary broadway boards. - small suited gappers work better in multiway pots, so those suit better for stealing pots with limpers, since every now and then you are played back by multiple players pre-flop. Played quite a long session(NL100) today, and tried to adjust my game based on these facts and assumptions. I only open raised with A8o+ from CO and A6o+ from button, and added that suited and non-suited trash to my raising range. You can't really go raising with all the crap, since it's ruining your table image totally. I felt quite comfortable with this play, and I think I'm gonna mostly play by this way for a while, and check how I'm doing. Discuss!! I'm interested in your LP pre-flop play. |

Re: LP raising standards
I'll open raise with both types of hands. More so in the button than in CO, obviously.

Re: LP raising standards
I need at least 7 high to raise in LP unopened pot. I will raise 56 and 64 if the table is passive.

Re: LP raising standards
I raise suited 1-gappers with one and sometimes two limpers,
depending on who the limpers are - i.e. not vs calling stations. Axo only if I am first in from the CO (and no ultra loose players behind me), Axs I raise with one or two limpers. |
