Default im a break even player ?

I didnt know where to post this but here goes. I have been tracking my play since september of 2005, and im up about $70. I record everything from a $5 heads up match to a $120 buy-in at a local casino. I dont play professionaly or anything and ive only been playing for about a year maybe less. I guess things could be A LOT worse as far as money goes but i just feel like this sucks. Does anyone else find that they have a similar problem like mine. I just wanna hear some feed back. Thank you.

If you break even you play far better than the vast majority of players. Nothing to be ashamed of.

More info needed really.. im guessing your not very good with br management if your playing 5$ buyin tournies and then 100$ ones which you are greatly under-rolled for.

a 'similar problem like yours'??

Yes, lots of players are in the break-even range.

After just picking up the game it is hardly a guarantee that you will be better than anybody else just by showing up.

So many seem to assume that almost everybody should be a winning player. I find this to be somewhat bizarre.

take solace in the fact that if you break even in BM poker then you are actually beating the game...especially if you play low limits...

I am above break even, but I find I fare far better in live vs online. I have hit a bad run the last week or so, so I am way down right now for the week, but you have to take it on the long haul.

I find that almost everybody assumes they themselves are winning players. Just like no one in prison is quilty. Just ask the prisoners.

My first recorded session of poker was around mid-late 2004, I kept them in the back of book I had, but loaned it to a friend who misplaced it so I'm not exactly sure when, possibly September. I started off playing B&M 3/6, and was a small loser in 2004.

I kept accurate records in 2005, and over the course of a year I played a total of 857.5 hours in B&M, 3/6-4/8, a few home games, and occassional tournament. My total net for the year, +894 dollars. For the entire year of 2005 my time at the poker table was worth 1 dollar and 4 cents an hour. Which did not sound impressive, and left me feeling kind of bummed out, but compared to the other players in my game this is way above par. I didn't realize that I still have very little experience playing good poker, and despite all of the study materials available nowadays I am still a beginner.

I am now studiously working towards improvement of my game, and execution this year, and I am currently beating my game for 1.83 (almost 2BB ) an hour, which is much improved from my former rate of 1/6 BB an hour. I can't tell you that I will continue to maintain/improve my winrate, and/or if it is even a true winrate, but what I do know is that it currently satisfies me.

Some of us are not as gifted as others when it comes to playing poker, or as quick when it comes to learning and understanding the nuances of the game. We can only accomplish what is possible for us. So I hope that you continue to reach for improvement, but realize that you must reach for goals that you can attain, and not get caught up in trying to keep up with what other's deem as successful, that of which you may/or may not be capable of doing. I don't know you personally, but if you give your best effort, and even if it takes you a few years to become an accomplished player, so what that you had to spend all that time breaking even. It sure beats losing. Good luck. Hope this helps a bit.

I dunno wtf all these people are talking about.

Yeah, break even is better than a lot of players. but who t f cares about break even?! that's the equivalent of not playing at all!!!

read the forums and get better.

Break even in these games now is far worse than can be achieved.

This is true, I just can't find any merchants who accept solace.
