Limit Holdem Ring game Limit: $0.50/$1 7 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $15.25 UTG+1: $19.25 MP1: $25.50 CO: $19.25 Button: $36.55 SB: $18.40 Hero: $54.65 Pre-flop: (7 players) Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, 5 folds, 5 folds, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#cc0000">UTG 3-bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero caps</font>, UTG calls. UTG is TAG, I capped here because he would limp/open-limp in EP with mid-PPs and suited paint. First question: Should I be capping here? Flop: A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4.5SB, 2 players) <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#cc0000">UTG caps</font>, Hero calls. Now I put him on ATs+/AJ/AQ, married KK, AA, or making a move with mid-PPs (maybe a set of 9s). Except I don't think he would limp re-raise pre-flop with 77-JJ. Turn: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6.25BB, 2 players) Hero checks, <font color="#cc0000">UTG bets</font>, Hero ??? Second question: Do I raise to find out if he has AA/99/AJ or call it down? |

yes cap preflop.
I call down after he capped the flop. EDIT: doh bet/call the turn is much better then c/c. |

You guys did see that this was a TAG LRR UTG, right? LRR's are often bupkis, but this has all the ingreients of it actually being AA.

Yikes, I wasn't even thinking of leading the turn. Thanks for the heads up. Except I felt that the L/RR was AA. I don't think he'd be firing away with KK.

well I wasn't observant enough to catch the LRR, so I could be wrong about the bet/call turn line. I should pay attention more often.
If it weren't a case of a LRR, then there are so many hands that you're ahead of, you want to get as much in the pot as you can without spewing to dude's AA. |

Capping or not: I think capping is good here it makes the rest of the hand easier to play. The villian knows you like your hand and probably are not going anywhere.
With the raise you find out if he has AA/99, that is a really bad idea here. You are basically raising for information that will not change how you play the hand. Are you going to fold to a three bet? I would just call down the turn and river and hope for a split with AK |
