Marijuana and Poker

Although I know playing intoxicated is always ALWAYS a stupid move, I have noticed something while being "high" during a no limit cash game. My reads became more acute, I was hearing my instinct (the voices that talks to me in my own voice in my head) more often, and I seemed to notice a lot more facial ticks, and little things about players that I had never noticed before. One time I could tell someone was nervous about the outcome of a hand so badly that I was almost sure he had the A and 4 of one suit and was trying desperatly to hit his flush on the river. I could see the anticipation in his eyes as he looked at the river card being put down. I have smoked pot for about 2 years now, often, and I am pretty capable now of telling when something is because of me being high, or actually happening, and in this case, I believe my reads become better and I am more focused. Thoughts? This post is not to glorify drugs or anything like that it is purely in the interest of discussion.

this is probably the wrong forum, and you may get flamed for this but i totally agree. it doesn't help me pick up reads like you say since i only play online, but it does help me relax and take the bad beats in stride and focus on just playing well.

I don't know if it helps me play better, but getting high is the only way I can stand playing donkaments.

Your reads are probably correct, but everyone is getting sick of you calling "Time." every time it's your turn to act.

lately since i have been injured, my ideal day has gone something like this:

wake up, eat a bunch of fruit

go to the gym and work out my upper body since my knee is messed up

come home and smoke a joint

play poker for 8 hours

go to bed and repeat

Yea I would hate to admit I play better high then sober, and in truth I cant decide whether or not I am actually better but I do love to play high, in fact I only play high. Its just something ive been doing for awhile now. I buy like a OZ which will last me about a week and play about 3 hours at a time every day and its really fun for me.
Helps me stay focused I guess and yea you seem to get really deep in to it, although again I dont think its any different when your sober, I mean you really are selling yourself short if you think you can only do things high/do things better when high. But in short yes playing high is good.

That is funny. I think it can also make you to agressive in particular situations though like impulsive, i.e. one time i hit my double gut shot on the river and went all in without thinking about the flush possibility and lost 30$ to a flush instead of a bet, like 5 or 6$

Mine used to be- wake up feeling like sh1t.

Make coffee. Take adderall. Smoke Cigarette with Coffee.
Have shower while adderall kicks in.
Play poker for 20 hours.

Linse rather repeat. :P
