Need OOT for some sink problem solving
I have a problem with my bathroom sink that I would like to solve using the power of OOT. A while ago, one of my cats
knocked a bottle of contact solution down the drain. It is a smaller version of this: I have an old sink(see first pic), so it doesn't have anything preventing stuff from falling down into the drain. From the drain, the pipe goes down about a foot and then curves like so: The bottle was small enough to fit down the drain, but not small enough to handle the curve in the pipe, so it is wedged where the pipe starts to curve. If I look down the drain, I can see the bottle, but it is well out of finger reach. I tried a homemade contraption involving a long starbucks straw and some fishing line, where I ran the line through the straw, pulled another 2 feet of slack and ran it back through the straw. This formed a loop which I planned on hooking around the cap, tightening around the cap and pulling out. However, since the cap is wedged I wasn't able to form the noose. I would prefer not to take apart the pipe, so I'm looking for ideas on how I can run something down the pipe, attach it to the bottle, and pull it out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Follow-up pics and trip report will come when I remove this [censored]. Cup |

Is there a tiny version of the claw game from arcades/fairs around?

Re: Need OOT for some sink problem solving
Elmers glue on the end of a pokeing device. Eraser end of a new pencil would work great...
Let it get tacky...stick it to the bottle...let it sit and dry... Pull. |

Re: Need OOT for some sink problem solving
Make a hook out of a wire hanger, bend the end about a half inch in so now it has a little foot-looking thing. Heat up the wire so it's super hot, melt through the plastic of the bottle. Now wait for the metal to cool, turn it sideways so the little hook contraption is perpendicular to the opening of the slit you just made by melting through the plastic. Pull bottle out. I don't know if it'll work, but it could. Good luck.
