Default bankroll requiremtns for limit??

Is there a standard recommendation for bankroll needed for limit games. Is it a certain amount of big blind bets??

300-500 BBs, depending on how comfortable you are. 350 is usually enough.

The lower limits up to (Lower then .5/1 - 2/4), I think you can get by with 300BB and be very very safe. However as you move up to 3/6 and + I think that it becomes to safe to have around 500BB perhaps even more depending on your personal comfort level.

I think you need to reason about what you are willing to risk. You can calculate your bankrollrequierments. P here is the chance that you wont bust in the long run.
P = 1/(1+e^(2t)), with t=EK/s^2. Here E is your expected hourly rate and K is your bankroll and s is
your standarddeviation.
For example if you have an expected win of 1BB/h and a standarddeviation of 15 BB this translates into:
Limit 80% 98%

1/2 360 900
2/4 720 1800
3/6 1080 2700
5/10 1800 4500
10/20 3600 9000
15/30 5400 13500
20/40 7200 18000
30/60 10800 27000
100/200 36000 90000

Hope everything is much clearer now

That's what I was thinking too.

Ok, i have a question about the above equation.

The figures that it spits out when i place it in excel for risk of ruin approaches 0.5 as one's bankroll approaches zero (for a standard deviation of 15, and a winrate of 2 for instance).
On intuition alone, we can tell that a bankroll of 5 or less would have a far greater risk of ruin.

Why is this?

Yeah, I think 3/6 should call for a little more, but usually 400 BB is good, especially if you're still plugging leaks in your game.

What about playing full time? Some people say you should also have 6 months worth of living expenses stored up, some people say a year's worth. Some good limit players on this forum claim to have run bad for over 100k hands. Playing an average of 6 hrs/day at 70 hands/hr (excluding weekends) would be ~ 6 months with no income.

Here is a good article on bankroll and standard deviation.
