Home tournament, 24 players started (4 tables of 6), 23 left, breaking down to 3 tables of 7 when 2 more go out. Top 4 are in the money.
5 handed at my table Hero (UTG) ~t1500 MP: ~t4000 BN: ~t2500 SB: ~t4000 BB: ~t6000 The players are loose, MP is semi-aggressive, BN is passive, SB is semi-aggressive, BB is aggressive. blinds are 50/100 and going up to 100/200 next hand (my BB). What do you like to do with 55 (and similar hands like 44, 66, 77) UTG here? If we play it, what do we do after the flop (assuming we don't push pre-flop)? Thanks for your comments. |

What do imagine happens when you raise to 300? If you're getting 3 calls, you're fine playing for set equity. If you get one call, ideally from the blinds, then you can probably take the pot with a c-bet on any flop.
It's not a great line but I like it better than pushing, limping or folding. |

If you raise to 300 you're risking 1/5th of your stack and only hit a set 1/7 times (I think it's that, it may be 1/10). How have the pots been going recently? Are there many limpers, is BB raising w/ any 2? I think I would limp here, call a reasonable raise for set value against MP or SB and push to a raise from BB. I don't like open pushing UTG w/ a hand that is 50/50 at best from a caller, and is most likely dominated, especially if you're only winning 150 if everyone does fold.
