Default WSOP Sat. near the bubble

PS $650 WSOP SAT pays 25 spots 30 left.

Hero is in 26th spot w/13XBB. Play is fairly tight.
Median stack is ~25XBB.

Hero 13XBB
SB DavidRoss ~26XBB
BB ~70XBB

folded to hero on the button who raises 3XBB w/ AQo.
David pushes in the SB; BB folds.

Hero??

3 stacks are less than 10XBB.
1 is 2XBB.

I would open push. By calling you have put yourself in an akward position. If you open push and are called you double up and you're in good shape. Now you've comitted almost 25% of your stack. I would probably call and hope I'm not dominated. I have no idea how David Ross plays. If he's only capable of reraising with premium hands than it's a fold, but if he'll do this with medium pocket pairs obviously you call.

First of all, open push as mentioned.

Once you raised 3x the BB, and David Ross pushes over you, I'd fold in a heartbeat.

Why? David has to have AA or KK to make this play, and probably AA. He is a thinking, good player. He knows that he can probably fold into a seat here, so the only thing he'd even consider playing is a monster here. Why would he risk being a short stack and not getting a seat with anything worse?

I've played with David a handful of times.

Once on day 2 of the PCA; I saw him push alot of middle pairs (which held up). This was a decent way from the bubble though. His core game is TAG.

The other notable time was at the 2+2 freeroll. I was attacking his bb from LP; his core blind defense is to call and take a flop. I also put him out of the freeroll when he played KJ from the BB against my AA.

I imagine he's sipping a scotch waiting for his seat. He probably views me as a LAG, and most recently recalls the 2+2 freeroll. I've been active on the button when folded to me. I think his most likely holding is KK, but I wanted to hear it from others.

I don't mean to be rude here, but what were you thinking raising to 3xBB? What was your plan if he only calls? What considerations did you not put in the OP?

I fold here. I've seen david post before and he claims to be one of the tightest players around.

The fact that this is a satellite could mean that his range is wider, but most likely, it means his range is JJ+, AK.

13XBB is alot of chips; survival has extra value in a satellite near the bubble; if you put in more than a standard raise here it is a substantial leak in your game because the additional FE you get from pushing is less than the value you get from surviving with 10XBB esp. against a big stack on the BB.

I didn't feel that I could fold AQ without opening given my situation in the tournament.

I guess that's a fair point about extra FE vs playing with 10BBs. I don't think that pushing AQ is a "substantial" leak though. Especially when you are outside looking in.

What do you plan to do with 10BB in a similar situation? I think you spend about 2BB per round, given the antes, right?
