sup fellas.. bout to get a new laptop.. tell me if this is a solid one for multitabling. if its not would appreciate where to go. i know it has good resolution, but are there others that may be a cheaper alternative with the same res? appreciate any insight you could give me. thanks..
also is resolution the most important feature to be able to multitable and possibly hook up a 2nd monitor. thanks |

E1705 from Dell is MUCH cheaper, can be bought with coupons online that make it even cheaper, and is more than sufficient for a poker player. There's another thread on here somewhere (use search for my posts) where I posted the model with specs I bought after getting advice from some more technologically competent members of the forum. Worked out to $1,600 for a model that would have been $2,300 and is far beyond what you'd need for poker.

I agree with terrell - your money will be much better spent on the E1705. When I was shopping around for my laptops, I considered the XPS Gen 2 (it was the top-of-the-line Dell laptop at the time). Except for a few minor differences, you can configure an Inspiron laptop to be the same as the XPS model, but you can save a lot of money by the use of coupons (there are *many* more Inspiron coupons than XPS coupons).
The E1705 is basically the same computer I bought, and I love it. It runs new games just fine (I have Half Life 2 cranked up to full graphics settings), and it's more than able to handle your poker needs. Good luck with the hunt and post back if you have any additional questions. P.S. Resolution is not directly related to the ability to hook up a 2nd monitor. It's the video card that counts. On a laptop, the resolution of the screen is most often the limiting factor as far as what is advertised on the laptop. What I'm trying to say is: the video cards are often capable of much higher resolutions, but the laptop screen limits the resolution. If you get a decent video card you should be able to hook up a 2nd monitor without a problem. |
