Help! Getting Check-Raised Burns Me
Lately I've been taking getting check-raised as a personal affront. The feeling doesn't last very long but for that short time, I really want to smash the person that did it. It's even worse when someone plays stupid, hits a miracle on the river, and then checkraises me.
I think the problem lies in that I absolutely LOATHE putting money into the pot when I'm beat or don't have the odds in my favor to continue. It's a source of pride for me not to do that, so getting check-raised means that I've likely made a mistake and I can't stand that. I feel like a fool. This obviously isn't the best state of mind in which to view a check-raise. So help me figure out how to find a way to keep me out of this state of mind. |

Re: Help! Getting Check-Raised Burns Me
Being c/r doesn't necessarily mean you made a mistake. If you're value-betting the river properly, then you're bound to be c/r occasionally.
The solution, of course, is to tighten up, played scared, and never value bet. Then you'll never be c/r! |
