Default Another 50NL QK hand

Hero raises to $2, UTG+1 folds, CO calls, 3 folds.

Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($4.75, 2 players)

Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($12.75, 2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $9, Hero calls.

River: 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($30.75, 2 players)
Hero ???

Villain is 18/13 with an AF of 1.5 (was my table selection bad? :-D) Anyways, I check here on the turn because of the famed "check turn to control pot size and induce bluffs". In this manner, the turn call was automatic - but do I bet out the river on a hand like this? Is the check-turn to control pot meant to be an in position move, since I can't play the river in position?

Why are you checking the turn? OOP you gotta keep betting this, you're ahead more likely than not.

You can't control the pot OOP, you can only offer villian a free card or an opportunity to bluff. If you want to control the potsize bet a little less on the flop, no draws on the board really. I'd bet about 7-8 on the turn.

I am not sure. A lot of people I read have been advocating checking the turn to control pot size. I realize that this is more of an in-position idea, but I thought it might be alright here as well. If I bet out on the turn and river, I am likely to put in a good 25-30 dollars betting out a single pair.

I figured if I bet, he folds weaker hands except queens. If I check, he bets out almost all hands because of my show of weakness. Is this too much of a tricky move that will backfire too often?

this is bad. really bad. Being OOP is one of the reasons you want to control this pot. Villian isnt calling the flop with anything other than a PP or a Q. You lead that turn and not only do you push out all PPs but some weaker Qs too. Check and let them bet. Thats how you control the pot. also, if youlead and ur riased you have to lay to it down to any significant raise. the correct line is c/c here as played by hero. if the flop had been more drawy then sure, lead, but not right now.

Given stats, villain rarely has QJ or worse. That makes betting the turn a bit thin.

check the turn and fold or...
Bet the turn or make a strong play and Check-Raise the Turn and you will know where you stand.
Check/call sucks...becourse you always want to know where you stand in the hand

I checked the turn for pot size control and to induce a bluff. River goes check check, and he shows 55.

Well, one overcard on the flop, he might be trying to cut off a c-bet bluff. I would probably raise if I had 55 and tried to see there if I was ahead, but maybe he wanted to float it.
