Default Borgossip

Here are a few random nuggets I picked up at the tables at Borgata over this past weekend. Take them for what they're worth.

-Carlo/Carlos, a decent (I've been told) Borgata mid-high stakes regular, won a $50,000 sweepstakes given by the casino. Apparently this was part of some promotion where your name would be announced and you'd have to be there within a half-hour to claim your prize. A poker player passing by the promotion's information board noticed that Carlo/Carlos was on the board as a winner and told Carlo/Carlos, who was in the poker room at the time and would not have claimed his prize otherwise.

The eagle-eyed tipster is said to have been given $5,000 by Carlo/Carlos, who was seen walking around with a bulging manilla envelope--presumably filled with some or all of his prize money in cash--later that evening.

-There was over $300,000 on the table at the big NL game at one point over the weekend.

-The Borgata will keep both the old and new poker rooms open for a few weeks as they transition to the new room only.

-There is a consensus among 2+2ers that there will be a Fatburger franchise opening in Borgata over the summer. However, Borgata floor managers claim this is patently false. In fact, total confusion ensues if you ask them if there will be a FatBurger (which they hear as "fat burger") in the Borgata. I was told that a fat burger can be had at the snack counter in the poker room.

-One of the "female" dealers or waitresses at Borgata is, in fact, a pre-op male-to-female transsexual.

I like this post. NVG needs more gossip and less news.

For the Carlos thing, is $5k reasonable here? 10% seems right to me.

I actually heard from the rumor mill that Carlo/s didn't give the tipster a red cent. There was actually a lot of talk about it at my table.

10% is way too much. $5k is much more reasonable.
