Default Can You Only play MTT\'s?

Im just wondering if everyone out there only play's mtt's for there poker "income" or they play cash games to support themselves,

IMO im a better tourney player than cash and want to start taking mtt's more seriously as my sole game to play, and was curious if someone can help me out with BR requirements etc, i was looking to just play around the $20-40 tourneys

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

I donk at cash, so I only play MTT's and SNG's. SNG's are good for building your equity. PS has alot of variety, and SNG's up to 180 people is a nice size field with reasonable winning potential, and they available in $1-$50, with field sizes of single table to 180 people. Good luck!

im sure you could support yourself solely on mtts but why would you? Learn how to play cash well and it will improve your mtt game.

I used to, but found it too tough due to variance. There is a TON of money to be made at cash games, and the Mid Stakes and Small Stakes forums are there with a ton of help.

It sucks losing 100 BBs with a dominating hand to some donk that put all his money in on the turn with a straight draw and rivered it, but for all those mistakes there is a lot of tournament buyins to be accumulated.

i love to donk it up in cash games. but my mtt results are pretty good so i need to stop sitting at the occassional cash game.

if you can multi table well it might be doable. your equity might be something like 2X the buy in. but you better be playing alot and always playing well at that level.

I have saved all my hand histoies for the last year, and bought Poker Tracker. My database is getting to the point where I believe is has some statistically relevance.
I have 577 tournies, 30,778 hands, and my ROI% is at 123.38

I used to, because I was like "wow there's so much easy money here and it's so much fun"

Now I'm like "I'm sick of never knowing if I'll get a good cash or not". And I rediscovered both my love of and skill at cash games. I've made more online since Friday than I had in like the entire [censored] month previous (INCLUDING my TS exploits).

The short answer: yes you can play only MTTs.

Longer:

I don't see why anyone plays soley MTTs (unless your name is Rizen and you FT... scratch that win every other tourney). Playing only MTTs is going to be very frustrating.

For your BR I would have at least 100 buyins and possibly up to 200 buyins. For $20-$40 range I would have around $4k-6k.
