oops, i just thought about it some more and i vote fold now, my b.

I think possibly if SB and BB come in for the ride it'd be worth it.
But 10.94% of the time flush draw will come, 2.02% twopair, 0.67% trip 8s, and 0.84% flop a flush. Total (14.47%)

Not enough equity to call when we're only getting 2.75:1. If SB and BB come along, that'll be 4:1, and maybe thats enough equity to justify calling because of implied odds.

So I think SB and BB have to be loose and the players have to be passive.

It depends on the blinds. If they are likely to call, then you can play this, but if they are tight, there's not enough money there to make it worthwhile.

edit: you also have to be able to let this go often when an ace flops, you don't have a draw, and you encounter aggression from your opponents.

So was the question if he butchered two streets or three?

Edit: Just noticed the part that CO posted prepreflop. This moves it from a fold to call for me.

I just happened to come across this hand and it made me a little curious. I almost always fold A8s to a raise and almost always re-raise A9s (with position, in the blinds I'll usually call.) Of course seeing this flop made the hand look attractive so I thought I would seek some other hopefully unbiased opinions. I don't remember this hand or my reads on the other players. I just picked it out while I was reviewing some stuff.

Party Poker ($2/$4 limit). Hand converted by Check Raised hand converter

Preflop (6 players): Hero is BTN with 8 A
1 fold. MP 3 bets. CO calls [5.5:1]. 1 fold. SB calls [4.67:1]. BB calls [8:1].

Flop (8 small bets ($16) in pot, 4 players): 3 K A
SB checks. BB checks. MP bets. CO calls [10:1]. SB calls [11:1]. BB folds [11:1].

Turn (5.5 bets ($22) in pot, 3 players): 3 K A 6
SB checks. MP bets. CO calls [7.5:1]. SB folds [7.5:1].

River (7.5 bets ($30) in pot, 2 players): 3 K A 6 4
MP checks. CO bets. MP folds [8.5:1].
Summary: 3 K A 6 4

CO doesn't show and won $32.50 (8.13bb)

The odds of making a flush by the river with any two suited cards are 15:1. Most pots don't reach 15BB so the Ace has to be good sometimes also. 15:1 is a lot of ground to make up.

If CO calls how is this still a cold call?

Because we haven't invested anything in the pot prior to our calling of two bets?
