Defending my raise
SB was sort of okay, a bit loose. His line strongly suggests a weak hand or a draw. The problem is an ace-high flush draw beats me, as does 67 now. Is it +EV to attack this pot?
No Limit Hold'em Ring Game (6 max) , 6 players Blinds : $0.50/$1 Stacks: UTG : $208 MP : $106.58 Hero : $102.60 Button : $49.23 SB : $126.44 BB : $104.80 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG limps, MP folds, Hero raises to $5, Button folds, SB calls, BB folds, UTG calls. Re: Defending my raise
You're behind a weak made hand Pairing your K possibly gives villian the flush. And now if you check, it induces a bluff from the draw that didn't get there on the river if he so inclines. I just let this badboy go and pick a better spot.

Re: Defending my raise
nah - you took your stab on the flop. c/f unless you pair your K or Q, then c/c any reasonable river bet.

Re: Defending my raise
I'm guessing he has a flush draw, check now, you'll probably win a showdown without having to risk more $.

Re: Defending my raise
I disagree with all posters so far.
OP, Make a larger raise on the flop. I usually follow through with a second barrel here, king high is rarely winning in a showdown in this spot IMO. |

Re: Defending my raise
I'd make it atleast $25 or $30 and check the turn. SB isn't going anywhere if he calls the flop.

Re: Defending my raise
I would usually check here. People tend to 'make a decision' when raised on the flop like this and nothing has fallen off to make him reevaluate.

Re: Defending my raise
Is folding on the flop an option? The reason I'm asking is because this is exactly how I lose money in NLHE. Villain minbets on the flop and it annoys me because I am a PFR. I raise his pathetic bet and create huge pot with K high as a result. But the hand is not over yet. I put him on a draw, turn: check-check, river blank, he checks and I bet because river card doesn't complete any draw, he calls with KT and takes down huge pot. It seems like this play is not +EV because most of the villains will call with any crap that beats us.
