So I don't have a date to my friend's wedding next weekend

On a scale of 1-pathetic, how bad it this?

W/out going too much into detail, I could probably give 110 to get a date by Saturday, but I'm not totally sure I want to bust my ass to do this i.e. asking an ex who I'm still semi-friends w/ or talking to a girl I haven't in some time, but I'm sure she'd go w/ me if I asked her. Note: the wedding is a friend's wedding and there will be plenty of company I'm good friends w/ there, so its not like I'm isolated and only knowing a few people there.

1st girl I was supposed to go w/ - we agreed to go sometime last year when we both first heard of the engagement. Never said anything to her about it since, assumed we were still both each other's back-up plan . . . yada yada yada, a buddy of mine asked her and she said yes. No big deal

This girl I know said a friend of hers, who is the fiance of someone I'm acquantince w/, would go w/ me since said fiance isn't coming out from California (the wedding is in NY) bu his girl is. He then nixes the idea b/c he doesn't want his fiance going w/ me. Needless to say, when I see him around X-mas, I'm gonna have some words for him.

So now I'm w/out date and don't have anyone in the immediate picture to bring with. Has anyone here gone to a wedding w/out a date? Does the fact that I'll be around plenty of friends change the situation or no?

my first reaction is that it's not a big deal, I never knew people worried about this kind of thing. but not a lot of my friends have gotten married so I dunno what's expected.

Yes, like every wedding I went to before I got engaged/married. In fact, I went out of my way NOT to bring a date to all of them.

Could be worse, my girlfriend has some kind of family event going on, so I'm going to be going to my brother's wedding next week (in BFE, by the way) solo. Everybody there will have someone, except me.
