Default Questioning the EV of the standard blackjack chart

K so my first casino whoring experience went horrible...i did starluck and ended up losing 10 bucks even after the bonus while betting $1 bets the whole time and not budging from the strategy card. I thought this was supposed to be easy money...people talking about $30/hour...unless i went on the most amazingly horrible run known to blackjack i dont see how this can be true.

I have a couple questions on the decisions the charts says i should take and whether its the highest ev decision.

1. doubling up on 11 against a dealers 10/A

I dont see how in the long run this will make u money or even break even like the charts supposed to

2. not surrendering 14 against the dealers 9/10

Alot of the times even if u do manage to get your hand to 17/18/19 you will either tie with the deal or lose, so why not either surrender or stand and hope the dealers busts?

3. splitting 6,6 or 7,7 against any hand

once again i just cant see how in the long run this is the highest ev decision.

4. lastly, and this is problem one of the worst decions i think. splitting 8,8 against a dealers 9/10

How could this possibly be the best decision? u splitting an already crap hand to make 2 more than likely inferior hands to the dealers anyway.

Anyway this isnt a rant because i never made money on my first bonus, i understand there is a RoR but surely i'm not the only person to be questioning these decisions? If anybody would like to take the time to prove to me why these decisions are infact +ev i'd really appreciate it

do you apply the chart of this link and do nothing else in order to clear the bonus?

i follow it each hand and feel that i will not win anything

i make 10% of the requirement and loose 30$ on the 100$ bonus

actually don't follow the chart on the page that halvsame said, because if u look closely it says "dealer hits on soft 17" which is not actually the case in normal blackjack and blackjack surrender, either search the site abit more for the proper chart or see this

http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack/images/bj_4d_s17.gif

and
brandybisch, its variance, you've only done one casino and you could end up like that, (and worst case would have been you went bust)
think of the longrun though, when you complete more casinos.
some site you will end up much higher than the bonus as well.
also , you could try betting $2 a hand.

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks, I haven't started my casino whoring career yet and appreciate the correction. How 'bout the charts on casinobonuspages, they are set up according to each site and thus should be accurate, right?

Don`t worry, and stay calm. As long as you don`t tilt, you will soon start making money. Bad runs happens all the time. I had losing runs on both Planetluck and Starluck when I did those casinoes 9 months ago. The very next casino I whored gave me a solid plus, and maked up for what I lost on the two previous casinoes. It`s all about variance.

I wish you good luck

Good question. I'm just getting into casinowhoring and want to do the right actions...

Anybody know if we can/should trust these charts, or know of a better site that has the right ones listed?

The guy that runs that site (Greg) does a good job with the charts. Also www.casinodave.com is a good site also. Dave posts in this forum and he is on top of all the blackjack action. So you have 2 really good sites for blackjack information
