You did the opposite of what I would have done in both hands. I would have 4 bet flop in hand 1, and just called in hand 2. Hand 2 I'm not even sure checkraising the flop is right.

I would just bet the flop in hand one. Why are you trying to build a big pot?
On hand 2, I would just call the three bet planning to bet out on most turn cards...why give him a cheap way off buried pockets esp. if he knows you respect him? Jeff |

I like leading out in hand one. I'd like to clear out SOME of the overcards and I think the best way to do that is to bet. Stox will often raise hoping to clean up his overcards and possibly get a free card. All players should recognize that you probably have a pair and some will fold even for a SB. Having played the way you did and getting 4bet, I think it is time to go into call down mode. I'm slightly afraid that he has A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and if I check the turn, he'll take his free card, but hell, with a hand like that, he'd still get 1/3 of all the turn action anyway (in Skalansky dollars). Also, if I bet and he raises, I'd have to seriously consider folding, and I hate folding.
Hand 2... I think he knows you have an ace now..... |

Yeah, I don't really like either.
hand 1 - You're sort of representing a draw with your checkraise. This makes it harder to read stox's hand, and as played you might want to go to showdown for this reason. I prefer leading out. hand 2 - I see no reason to 4 bet the flop, even though you have the flush draw. |

What does stox think of you, you of him, other hands you've played etc.

Evan,
Hand 2 you hold the As and it's on the board. What's really going on? |

When did hand one become a standard preflop call?
