deep with set, too weak?
villain has been very active, laggy and seemed pretty good postflop.

I think I play it the same.

Re: deep with set, too weak?
well, the ONLY thing worried about here is 56. If BB NEVER ch-raises, I'm playing it like you. If he's c/r somewhat often, EZ 3 bet. Since he's laggy, I'm thinking Ax. Would suck to see 56 though.
also, maybe 1 in 5 of these situations I check turn to induce river bluff. |

checking turn would be so wrong.

Re: deep with set, too weak?
No one is advocating a turn check.
Does he call a river raise with A7/A8/A4? I doubt most reasonable players would I think just calling the river is best (b/c 77 or 56) seem like the most likely hands (that will still call a raise). And ofcourse there's the slim posibilty of him having gotten tricky preflop w/ AA. |

Re: deep with set, too weak?
Is there any merit to betting 200 on the turn with these stacks?

checking turn would be so wrong. [/ QUOTE ] in this particular hand I agree. With tricky villian, not always. |

Re: deep with set, too weak?
Oops sorry, didn't see reef actually recommeded checking the turn sometimes. I don't think I would ever do that here.
What hands are you looking to induce a bluff from? T9 seems like the only hand that *might* bet the river if you check turn (maybe under 99-JJ?). I think I would be more inclinded to check the turn with a hand like AJ-AK to induce a bet from worse hands. |

Re: deep with set, too weak?
His line looks very 56esque. I play it the same. He calls out of the blind with 56, which is reasonable. Check/calls the flop hoping to hit the big card and then raises you. Then fires out a normal looking, almost pot sized bet on the river.
Im like never raising here and we beat too much to fold, in the event he has a set or two pair. |
