Default movies where the second half is much better than the first half

with apologies to Astro...

Starship Troopers - really wincing bad until they actually start kicking bug butt! Then it turns fantastic.

Straw Dogs - I sat and watched it for the first half, thinking over an over again 'this is so overrated', but then the second half kicked in...WOW! Brilliant movie.

Wild things - Starts out as a standard "I have been raped" or "I frame someone and say he raped me" film, but turns all around (several times...)

Audition (Odishon) - First half is a little boring, but the 2nd half is great.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

this is the one with Gene Wilder; the 2005 Johnny Depp/Tim Burton version is called "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".

There's a TV version where all they show is the 2d half.

Match Point - Granted, the first half was still good, but things get so much better in the 2nd half.

and I guess Requiem for a Dream too

I think there's porlly a ton of horror and sci-fi movies where this is true, but here's just one:

'Fiend without a Face'

Crumby first half, dull, stupid, poor acting, plodding dialogue; second half, people's brains getting sucked out by creatures that look like a brain/spinal column.

sweet!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I was about to walk out halfway through, but I gave it a chance. I was happy I did.
