2/4 mid-pair, TK
All streets may be questionable, but the river in particular...
UB 2/4, 9 handed. UTG is 43/3/.7 after 170 hands CO posts Hero is UTG+2, with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG limps 1 fold Hero raises (I'm thinking for value on the loose-passive limper, and to isolate him) 6 folds UTG calls Flop (6.5 SB): 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG bets Hero raises UTG calls (I raised thinking I might be ahead, and for free card/cheap showdown) Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG checks Hero checks (when this 3rd spade hits an already coordinated board, I decide to take free card.) River: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG checks Hero? |

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
I wouldn't try to isolate in that position but if the table is so tight that it's going to consistanty work then it's certainly fine.
I like the flop raise. But you should bet the turn (and fold to a raise) and check the river instead. SSH has a section explaining why this line is better that what you did. I'd check the river. You very well may have the best hand here but I'm not sure at allthat you will have the best hand most of the time you are called. |

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
I don't understand why you are raising this flop if your opponent has an aggression factor of 0.7. I'd just call. If you really think you are ahead, then you're not drawing, so why are you looking to make a free card play?
Also, though the board may be coordinated, but you're only heads up and there's no reason to fear a flush on the turn. |

Grunch
I hate the preflop raise and I b/f this turn. Called on the turn, I c/f the river. |

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
Bet/fold the turn here. You can easily fold to a c/r since he is passive. Then, take the free showdown.

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
i really don't understand why you don't fold pre-flop. a,8 (s) is a trap hand twenty million ways. when you do play it, you often get a piece of the flop which causes more chip throwing in often for futile results. about the only way i think a,8 (s) should be played is in the blinds or in late position after a lot of players have come in...

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
overlimping pf is okay too. i don't get the flop raise. as played b/f the turn. since you didn't do that just check the river.

I check the river through probably. What's he donking the flop with that doesn't have you beat?

Re: 2/4 mid-pair, TK
Pre-flop: call or fold. With a poster, I don't really like this play. Other players love to get involved in posted pots.
Flop: call. Turn: bet. You raised, free cards are going to hurt you more than help you. Easy fold to a c/r. River: check. If he has a high WTD%, then I would value bet. |
