Default Final table deal - your opinions?

5 table shootout - top 2 advance to final table. $75 buyin + 50 addon.

Down to the last 3 players, Chip leader has 125,000, I have 105,000, third place has 70,000.

Planned payouts are : Winner - 1800, 2nd - 1100, 3rd - 800.

The other two want to chop - and after some discussion, this is the offer - 1st - 1400, 2nd - 1300, 3rd - 1000.

I thought it was a reasonable deal for me, in second place. I would have preferred to keep playing, but the other two wanted to chop. Originally, I was offered 1200 and refused.

I think I was a better player than 3rd place, and equal to 1st. Blinds were about to go up to 10k/20k, so a crapshoot was nearing.

Thoughts?

Given that you had 35% of the chips, you got a little better than the $1255 you were "due" ($800 + 35% of the remaining 1300, for those who are curious)

But, with the presumed 5K/10K blinds and the upcoming double, you could easily be bounced into 3rd place by the cards alone. That's a $500 swing- I think the deal was good enough to avoid that risk, since you'd only gain $500 more by playing on (unless you get a deal when heads-up, but even then a straight chop is only $1450).

I would have refused the $1200 offer as well.

I think it was a deal worth making.

Thanks for the input. I liked the deal because it was going to be lottery time soon.

I agree. You benefit greatly, good deal. I'm surprised 1st gave up so much cash. How much were they pushing for a deal? Chip leader must have been pretty scared to play it out if willing to pay $400 out of pocket.

Either you didn't read my post, or you overestimate the chip leader's equity. Based on chip ratios, the leader got a little more than he was "entitled" to.

I agree with Larry's methodology here (I approached it a little differently, but came up with a mathmatically equivalent result).

I get 70,000 chips - 1103.333
105,000 chips -- 1255
125,000 chips -- 1341.667

So, you got a bit more than you were entitled to. Overall, depending on skill sets of players, risk aversion, etc. the split doesn't sound horrible.
