I was told the same thing late last week when trying to book a room in August. Supposedly information will be going out in the mail to Borgata cardholders in the next few weeks.
Old rates (correct me if I'm wrong): $125 weekends (flat rate) $59 weekdays (4 hrs of play) $39 weekdays (8 hrs of play) |

Could be because the new stuff is opening up soon - going to have twice as many people there with the same amount of hotel rooms, so the number of poker rated rooms might be going down until the new hotel opens...

[/ QUOTE ] The hotel and casino is doing very well. They can probably fill up their rooms with "gamblers" from the rest of the casino and people paying full price or close to that. It probably isn't good business for them to give a lot of rooms at poker rate. |

betgo,
Not that I dont agree with some of what you said, but for perspective - the only time I was ever 'denied' a room prior to my heavy blackjack play (pre- Nov. 05) was on a Saturday night - every other night of the week they had rooms to give at moment's notice - not a problem now as I get 2 free every week(end) if I want them, but in at least speaking with my host and with the front desk people every week or two for the last 4-5 months, the hotel hasn't been as full with people paying full price as one might think. I think (and again this is based on speaking with my host and others there) that with the increased volume in the casino due to the expansion that the number of poker rated rooms and maybe even comped rooms (though I haven't run into that yet having made comped reservations for many weekends over the summer) will go down. I think it all depends on season, too - during low season they want to fill the hotel (poker rated rooms = good), but during high season they can pack it at full price (poker rated rooms = bad) - they can't keep adjusting poker rated rooms and such every few months - however with the new expansion, they can and have a good opportunity to do so. I could be wrong about all this, probably am... just saying what I've been told/experienced. |

This pretty much blows.
Although it's been kind of a pain to get the rate lately for weekends without a month's notice. |
