Default Raising the limits

The group I play with 3-4 times per week, is starting to want to raise up the limits. We want to start playing 1/2 NL at the home game, so we dont have to drive so far for the casino. I would like to ease our current crop of players into this kind of game. I know we will lose some, but I would like to minimize the number but easing into the game. I think if we gradually raise the limits it will be an easy switch. Thoughts? Oh and current buy in is around $50 per. I would like to build a cap of $200 or $300 when we make the switch.

You're quadrupling the size of your limts, maybe 6x if you go with $300 cap for rebuys. How worried are you that you'll price out/bust out a large volume of players?

I will for sure lose 10% at the min, it could be as much as $25%. I have been asking people what they felt, so I have a an idea who we might lose.

Are you guys bankrolled for this level of play? You don't only have to worry about the guys you will initially lose, but also those you will lose after they themselves lose.

Is there a reason why you couldn't move your game from .25/.50 to .50/1 with a $100 buy in to see how that goes first? The slower increase might not scare some of the players and you could get a feel for how the game will change with higher stakes to see if you even want to move up to 1/2.

This is obviously the only way to logically increase the stakes at your game without scaring off too many players.

If you don't care about scaring off players, then go ahead and jump to 1/2 right away.

You don't have many options here.
