Poker Room Skin $5+0.50 MTT - Push vs 5 limps w/ M of 7
Poker Room skin
No Limit Holdem Tournament (36/59, Top 40 paid, 352 entrants) Blinds: t300/t600 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t12529 UTG+1: t10130 MP1: t11845 MP2: t11915 MP3: t13910 CO: t5580 Button: t2723 SB: t16620 Hero: t7270 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls t600 (pot was t900), UTG+1 calls t600 (pot was t1500), MP1 calls t600 (pot was t2100), 3 folds, Button calls t600 (pot was t2700), SB calls t300 (pot was t3300), Hero ?? I figure with the limps that I'm up vs Ax, PPs, mid-suited connectors (87s etc.), or high unsuited connectors (JT etc.) and therefore probably no worse than a flip. Am I right to push here? Would I be right to push with almost any 2? |

Awful. You are putting your whole tourney life on K7o. $5 tourney = you have a good chance of getting called. M=7 says thank goodness for a nice check, hope you hit the flop, fold easily if you don't, wait for a better hand to do some damage.
BTW: Ax = you are behind 60-40 66 or lower = you are behind 88 or higher = behind 65-35 KQ-KT = yuck (still possible in a $5 tourney) |

What M would I need to justify the push then?
I think i screwed up the HU %s in my head in the moment. I now see how bad a position I was actually in. Thanks for pointing them out. |

I don't think the push is terrible. Yeh, you are behind if called, but you have enourmous pot odds if you get heads up. Problem is that at this stage of a $5 tournament there may not be that much chance everyone will fold.

I actually ended up being called by MP1 w/ ATo and was 65/35 behind. MP1 won as Ace-high held up.

This isn't a terrible push because you have good fold equity over the rest of the table. There isn't anyone there your stack won't hurt. With 3300 chips from the limpers this as good a time as any to take stab at it.

I don't make this push often enough, but I do think that a push will be +cEV in this situation. Every player not only has to worry about you, but also somebody behind also calling creating a squeeze effect, and what is even better, the last couple of limpers could really be speculating with 76s, or something getting good limping odds after the first few limpers.
