Pat Tillman
I was watching CNN headline news and they had a special on what exactly happened to Pat Tillman. They went through thousands of military documents and even made a simulation video of what happened.
Here is a link to the story: Story Thoughts? |

Re: Pat Tillman
This happens in all wars. I love how the guy who wasn't there disregards what the platoon leader says they should do and tells them to break up into two groups. ahhh classic.
The fact that they tried to cover it up and not punish the soldiers is the main problem. The fact that Tillman died because his old guys completly [censored] up and went trigger happy is just part of the risk you take being in this type of situation. |

Re: Pat Tillman
[ QUOTE ]
Tillman threw a smoke grenade to signal they were Rangers, and for a few moments, it appeared to work. "We thought the battle was over," said the soldier next to Tillman. "So we were relieved, getting up stretching out and talking with one another when I heard some 5.56 rounds coming from the vehicle. They started firing again. That's when I hit the deck and started praying." But Tillman didn't get down in time. He was hit. "I know this because I could hear the pain in his voice as he called out: 'Cease fire! Friendlies! I am Pat (expletive) Tillman damn it!'" the soldier said. "He said this over and over again until he stopped." Moments later, a sound caught the attention of the soldier next to Tillman. "I heard what sounded like water pouring down," he said. "I then looked over at my side to see a river of blood coming down from where he was. I had blood all over my shoulder from him and when I looked at him, I saw his head was gone." [/ QUOTE ] I didnt understand this. It seemed like the smoke grenades were safety devices for such a situation, yet they ignored them. Also the description of his death made me cringe. |

"He said this over and over again until he stopped." [/ QUOTE ] I'd say so if he lost his dome. I've never been big on Pat Tillman. I got respect for the guy, but no more or no less than any other soldier who has ever fought for our country. I think the whole Pat Tillman thing is all overblown since there's not much we can hold high from this war. /end political talk |

Re: Pat Tillman
Jim Rome was talking about this about 3 months ago.
There was a big argument on his show about whether or not his family should have been notified about the friendly fire. Many soldiers called in and said that his family didn't need to know. Rome seemed to think that his family had aright to know, and that, him dying by his own side did not and should not, make him less heroic in his family's eyes. |

Iraq just takes the headline over Afghan. |

It's one thing to fight for your country. It's another to give up a dream lifestyle to fight for it. Pat Tillman is the MAN. |
