Mirage 5-26 Dealers Talkin in code?
6/12 game at dealer switch the current dealer tells new guy, "we got a real ballgame here" then says "centerfield and 3rd base". No game is on the TV's, hes obviously telling new guy sumthin. I ask new guy what it means (curious) he won't say but is dissappointed I caught on, it seems.
Any ideas? Possible collusion in seat four or five (center) and nine (third base)? |

Most likely referring to possible collusion. Center field would be the 5 seat in a 9 handed game I'm assuming.

Or they're using the baseball position numbers, in which case 3rd base is 5 and center field is 8.

Might have something to do with tipping. Either they tipped alot or not at all. Just a guess.

Re: Mirage 5-26 Dealers Talkin in code?
I think it is unlikely they are talking about collusion, normally a dealer would whisper it or just tell the floor himself.
Were the players LAG? Fighting? Tipping generously? Those are my guesses. |

Re: Mirage 5-26 Dealers Talkin in code?
This sounds right but still not sure. I'll give more info:
I was 5 seat, my wife was in nine. Her first time playing higher then 4/8 kill was today but shes more then ready. I was up $300 in the first 70 min (mostly with first dealer) I complimented him on his speed. I guessed 50 hands an hr he proudly said a lil more than that, and said he was fastest at Mirage. I tip 1 or 2 bucks depending on pot size. Wife same. No problems or issues came up while we played although he didnt seem to like my consistent chatter (2 baileys/coffee, 2 bloody marys with no food in me, hey, im on vacation) since it slowed his rapid fire pace down a little. We would never collude and we don't ever soft play each other. She was about even when the "baseball game" comment came out. I figure she will learn faster and move up if I play her tough. Were both tight agg short players online and this was a 6-7 man game with a reduced rake. I drilled the second dealer pretty hard since I was curious what the code meant. No one else noticed it and he wasn't gonna rat on his buddy. I said, "my tips will increase if you fill me in". He smiled and just kept dealin till the game broke 20 min. later. |

Re: Mirage 5-26 Dealers Talkin in code?
If a dealer said this to me on my way into the down I would just assume he meant two players were going at it hard (either in play or chatter). I wouldn't expect it to mean anything like collusion.
I wouldn't know which two seats he meant since if you tell me 3rd Base I think 5 and Centerfield is 9 to me, but I could see how another person might call the five seat Centerfield and the three seat third base. In any event i would not give it a whole lot of thought. |
