Are fat people excused from seatbelt laws?

New seatbelt law in my neck of the woods. Now, they can stop you for not wearing one. Before, they could cite you, but only if they stopped you for something else.

I'm not so fat that I can't buckle up. But it's close. Especially in my second car, which is 12 years old, and was built before the obesity epidemic hit.

What do you think, OOT? If I tell the cop/judge that the belt won't go around me, do I walk?
