Default Pacific Poker is a joke

(I'm just posting this so people will play there less and make them less money).

Have you checked the rake structure for the Pacific games? I played there a bit a while ago because the games are so so soft (60%+ players to the flop for six-max games up to maybe 5/10).

They rake 5-10% of every postflop pot up to $5! $5!. If you play an hour of six $2/4 max (100 hands) and win your share of $15 pots (12), three $60 pots and a $100 pot, you will be raked $28. Good luck beating the game for more than 7 BB/hour. Let alone the 9 you would need to beat if for to make it profitable. Let alone variance.

Most other poker sites would charge $12 for winning the same amount of pots. And they might give you a bonus to play there.

Do not play at Pacific.

Rant over.

is it 5% or 10%? do you have any specific info or what? ive been beating the games there for 2 years so i guess its possible. i only play 5-10 tho so the rake isnt as much of a factor.

Damn I knew they had terrible rake due to raking 5% out of every dollar (example every .05 from a dollar instead of $1 from every $20 like most sites) but didn't know it was $5 max! Worse than crypto.

At least live you can play a few levels higher than you normally do. On pacific you can probably play 1 level higher.

Max rake at Pacifc Poker is $4 for 3/6-30/60. $1 at $20 pot, then 50cents more for every $10 up to $80 where it's maxed at $4. 2/4 is maxed out at $3.50. This works out to be 5%. For comparison, PokerStars & Partypoker max out at $3 instead of $4.

Pacific Poker: http://www.pacificpoker.com/home.htm?page=limitsandrake

Party Poker: http://www.partypoker.com/how_to_pla...and_blind.html
Poker Stars: http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/rake/

Checked some 5/10 tables just now to confirm it hasn't changed, it's still $4.

I guess I'm thinking of the nanolimit tables where they take 5c out of every dollar.

Edit: Thanks for those links.

I remember when that site had some scruples. It was great site when they were desperate for players. There 2/4 short games were a gold mine in 03'. Now with their increased rake and refusing to pay a 1 percent rake rebate to winning players. That place should be blacklisted.....

I quit and went back twice over claims that the games were so great. The software drove me totally nuts and getting kicked over the server was the worst. I have intentions of never ever going there again.

Pacific:

12 x $15 x 5% = $9
3 x $60 x 5% = $9
1 x $100 x $3.50max = $3.50

Rake = $21.50

*

Party:

12 x $15 x 0% = $0
3 x $60 x 5% = $9
1 x $100 x $3.00max = $3.00

Rake = $12
