Default Pre flop raising, AK

say you are MP with AK. one early player limps, you raise, button calls, big blind re-raises 3* what you raised to, early player calls.

Do you call or raise to make it more short handed?
short handed means a continuation bet is more likely to succeed, also reduces the number of hands that beat you, but 3 betting will also give BB the chance to raise again, and also you could end up dragging early (and maybe late) into the hand anyway.

Any theory behind this move? I think ive seen it being called something but I'm not sure what.

If you are cbetting ie no A or K on flop I don't thinnk the 3 better is going to fold, so I don't think that should be a concern.

Edit: because their likely 3bet range from the BB is QQ,KK,AA maybe AK. (the villains i play anyway). And a 4bet would probably lose AK maybe QQ anyway.

unless the BB has been 3betting a lot preflop, i think you can fold here, if he has been i might shove with all that money in the pot
