Based on the other thread, you're supposed to tip a pizza guy like 8 bucks for walking a damn pizza to your door. So, I'm gonna go with yeah, you should tip the guy connecting your cable. Did I win?

if it was dirt cheap then yea id throw him a bone, but most of the time these companies rip you off like none other so i have no problem telling him to take a hike after i pay the bill.

its kind of like at this local burrito place (chipotle, if anyones heard of it, amazing mexican IMO)....if the cashier finds out they put guacamole in my burrito and charges me the standard 1.50 extra, i steal a soda. if she doesnt, i use the water cup just for water. its a give and take.

Actually, everyone I've ever known has tipped the cable guy when he sets up your service. Typically you dont tip him if its for a repair, its not like they are electricians or phone repair, those guys wont even accept tips most of them, they already make enough. yes tip him, $10 no big deal.

If he "hooked you up", then yes.
If just standard hook up, no.

So do you tip the garbage man when he picks up your trash twice a week? Or the guy who mows the lawn?

Cable guy = No tip. His company is sucking out over $1000 per household every year. That's enough to for them to pay him a very nice salary. He is not working for min wage liek a pizza guy or a bartender.
