Default Guitar players, this ever happen to you?

I had a dream last night that someone was teaching me how to play “Unchained” by Van Halen. I don’t know why... I haven’t heard that song in 15-20 years. I don’t typically listen to that kind of music either, although I am obviously somewhat familiar with it. When I woke up, I picked up my guitar and my “guitar lesson” was right! Freaky!
I didn't learn the whole song in my dream... just the main riff, but it's still pretty weird.

I have had one or two times I can play a song unconsciously without ever practicing it or knowing the written music.

this kind of thing is what makes movies like "lawnmower man" or "phenomenon" really interesting, it's crazy what the mind is capable of.

Yeah, but usually (for me anyway) it’s one of those chord patterns that have been used a million times. For example, a combination of G C D... Oh, here comes the bridge... What do you want to bet that they go to E minor?

Well, I wouldn't go that far. I was surprised that it was right though.

Maybe. Example - Standing on stage doing a soundcheck in front of early punters. bored. Talking. Billie Jean is playing over the sound system. Without even realising I was doing it, I was playing my bass along to it prefectly, even to the key - and I'm still talking to the drummer without awareness I was doing it. Never practiced it or thought about trying this song before. When I realised, I tried to keep going but I had to stop, cos I didn't know the fingering.

Go figure.

I guess. I can't do it for most music though, usually needs practice and working out. It only came when I wasn't thinking about it, the few times it happened.
