Default TT Raise/Fold Flop Line vs TAG

WPEX 1/2 5-max

Villain is a decent TAG, on the tighter side. I open UTG with TT and he 3-bets from the SB. I cap.

Flop is Axx non-connected monotone. I raise his bet and fold to his 3-bet, getting 14-1.

What does he 3-bet you with (UTG at that) that you now beat on the flop? 99 maybe. The raise is spewish I think.

This flop should've been an insta-muck, unless he's a weak-tight pansy and is always folding KK-JJ to that raise.

That makes me feel better, because I almost always call down KK on that board heads-up and feel bad about it most of the time.

Wait, I missed the monotone flop. So you don't have the suit I assume. Then it really is an instamuck.

[posting blind]

I'm not usually capping preflop w/ TT here, but I'm sure there are others that would.

The fold to the 3-bet was definitely correct, but I'm not sure your flop raise was.

If he's a decent TAG, I don't see why he'd donk the flop w/ any Ace or KK. that would leave QQ, JJ and maybe 99 and there's a slim chance you could fold those hands with your raise. Was one of the other flop cards a 9? He might donk a set given the likelhood you have an A.

Given your read, I think your almost always behind, and the only better hands that might donk the flop that you might fold are QQ and JJ. I'd probably just call the flop, hit my set and win a big pot. Otherwise I'd fold. Hope someone has a better idea.

OMG...my hand posting abilities are even worse than my play apparently. Flop was a rainbow, not monotone. I have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote monotone.

Going to edit. The correct play seems pretty clear, though, regardless of the flop color. Thanks for the advice. I hate folding for one bet after capping the flop, but I agree it's a muck.

Doesn't look like I can edit, but the flop was RAINBOW, not monotone.

Sorry...

Why are you guys saying folding to the 3-bet is correct? Getting 14-1 he's got enough odds to call the 3bet and fold turn unimproved if he doesn't hit a set.
