Party 2/4, QQ overpair line check.
Party 400 NL 6-max
Decent aggressive player limps in EP ($600), 2nd limper ($450), I'm in the CO ($500) and make it $18 with QQ. Blinds fold, both limpers call. 3 players ($54) Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Checked to me I bet $50, EP is only caller. 2 players ($154) Turn: J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Check, I bet $100, he calls. 2 players ($354) River: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He bets $225, I call. Comments on all streets appreciated. Also, sort of a related question, what if it was checked to you on the river, value bet? |

Re: Party 2/4, QQ overpair line check.
Seems good, I mean his line doesn't look like a bluff but I think he might be value betting J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]X[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or something to that effect. I think QQ is an easy just call, and yes if it's checked to you an easy bet.
I guess you're learning NL at a rather low limit. |

Re: Party 2/4, QQ overpair line check.
If he's a decent, aggressive player, is he really check-calling big bets on the flop and turn, out of position, with a draw? I don't think so. Because of that, I think checking behind on the turn is fine; you've got one pair, keeping the pot small is ok. Betting is ok, too, though.
Call the river. Expect to lose, but none of the draws got there, and that 7 just saved you from JT. |

Re: Party 2/4, QQ overpair line check.
I would raise more preflop: 20 with one limper 25-30 with 2 limpers.
Flop is solid. I would often check behind for pot control as the J wasn't a great card here. Plus might induce a river bluff from villan. Call the river, hard to believe an aggressive villan would slow play 89 or a set on the turn. |

I think firing on the turn again is the right thing to do. As for the river, sometimes call, sometimes fold. Just looking at the hand history - my gut says fold on this one. D |

Re: Results
I would raise more preflop and bet more on the turn. Probably have to call this river as you now beat JT.

Re: Party 2/4, QQ overpair line check.
I would push or fold the river. Almost always pushing. Overpair = nuts.
