Default Adustment to online.

A really selfish post on my part. I have been a 2-3 BB/hr winner in the B&M cardrooms for a long period of time now. This has been at a level of 20-40 and up. I am having great difficulty making the adjustment to online poker and I'm not really sure what the problem is. I am however determined to beat the online game, just as I have live. All advice in beating online is grealty welcomed and appreciated. Oh...and one other thing, someone please reassure me that online poker isn't rigged. Thanks a bunch for all your responses.

Start at stakes you can beat. I was a 20/40 live player before I started really playing online. I started online at 3/6 and worked my way up pretty quickly. If I started at 20/40ish stakes, I would have gotten killed. It's a different game.

Online poker is not rigged. It would make no sense to kill a golden goose.

You'll take more bad beats. Just remember you're playing about twice as many hands an hour than you are at a B&M.

How does live compare to online . . . Whats a 2/4 online line game compared to as far as live game 5/10?

I usually play 2/4 online but live by a casino now and was wondering kind of game I should try live?

Depends on the casino, but 2/4 online is way more difficult and aggressive than most 3/6, 4/8, or 5/10 live games. If you have the roll, try out a 6/12 or even 10/20 game. Even those are probably way softer, but you can always just move to a higher limit after a few hours.

If you've been playing 20/40 B&M, you'll find about equivalent skill at 3/6 online. These games will rarely be as passive as the ones you're used to playing live, and thus the biggest difference will be the frequent unbridled aggression when you play online. You will often feel like someone is putting the screws to you on every decision that you have to make.

What is a good win rate for playing live about 1/BB per hour?

Yes, 1BB/hr * 30hands/hr = 3.33BB/100 - (rake + toke). Rake and toke really depends on what limits you're playing. Obviously a $3 rake + $1 toke hurts a lot more at 3/6 than 20/40.
