Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
c/ring a big street with 3rd pair is usually not a profitable plan. i would just bet the flop and turn and fold to a raise.

Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
I guess I understand what you are thinking on the turn, because you picked up extra outs if you are behind, but the danger of having to call a reraise against KK or AA makes this turn CR suck. Don't lead the turn either. Just check/call. There's not much danger in giving a free card to AK because AK is often betting anyway, and you can't make AK fold ever. Your river line is good.
So I say check call turn, and bet/fold river UI. |

[ QUOTE ] i would just bet the flop and turn and fold to a raise. [/ QUOTE ] you're giving up too much IMO by taking this line. Flop raises with overcards are standard fare for aggro players. Also, why would you fold to a turn raise after you pick up all those extra outs? |

Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
This is just one of those hands I did it on the fly, and wanted to get impressions of it.
You don't think I'm getting AK or JJ to fold here very often? That was my reasoning behind the raise at the time. River check/fold ok? |

Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
i'm a little iffy about the play on the turn... only hand within his range that you beat here is AK, and getting almost 8 to 1 here, he is unlikely to drop it...
i was thinking a turn donk fold might be a better option, but then i realized you had the gutshot as well... the only problem here is, that the only hand you beat in his range is AK, and if your gutshot completes than he has the nuts... I think i either donk/fold this turn, or get out all together... as played river c/f is the way to go... absolutely no way youre ahead |

Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
getting 8 to 1, i don't think you're getting either to fold... JJ has your gutshot, and probably figures their to (edit: two) J's are good as well... and AK has the two overs with the nut gutshot... likely calls
my main problem with this play is that your gutshot is not good against the only hand in villain's range that you are ahead of in AK... |

It's actually OESD on the turn, but I could be beat if J comes.

Re: 99 UTG get\'s 3 bet by TAG
i think i tend to remember better those things that i have read that i agree with. somewhere, i read that (9,9), (8,8) & (7,7) are too good to fold pre-flop in early position, but, are not strong enough to raise with in early position. i think whoever wrote that is correct...so, almost always i will just limp with these three holdings in early position....one overcard and action i might fold, two overcards and action i usually will fold, three overcards and action i'm gone 99.9999999999999% of the time...
