Default Preflop, shorthanded, SB question

Alright, say you are playing 6 handed (not sure if it goes here or the shorthanded forum). Assume a 1/2 blind structure (i.e. 20-40 or 30-60 with a 15 small blind).

All fold to you in the SB. What percent of the time do you LIMP?

(don't say it depends on the big blind. If you face maniacs in the BB 5% of the time, LAGs 30% of the time, TAGs 50% of the time, and uberrocks 15% of the time, factor those percentages into your answer).

Thanks

edit: if you limp intending to limp-reraise, that counts as limping. And, Dean, yes it is opponent dependant. But you know how often you play against which type of opponent, so the question is still answer-able.

It really *does* depend on the BB. I tend to rarely complete in a 1/2 structure, but fairly often in a 2/3.

I think a large factor in this decision is my image and BB's image to me, and how I think I appear to him.

Specifically, if I don't have one yet, I'll try to establish it now.

In general, though, I prefer raising here simply because it is more likely for him to have garbage than a good hand.

If I don't raise here, I'm planning to bet any flop regardless of my cards.

Edit: I mostly play live games, so my advice is more applicable there.

Dov

Of the times I choose to play, I prolly limp here more than 35%. The ads of the preflop raise here are IMO extremely overrated. The preflop show of strength and continuation bet just aren't enough IMO to counteract the positional disadvantage.

Come to think of it, I think about the only reason I do raise preflop from the sb is to stop the bb from raising preflop because he will then have position plus the ads of being in the driver's seat postflop with the continuation bet. If I raise from the sb, he (barring a 3 bet) will only have position.

Interesting. I'm more likely to limp vs. a maniac. Obviously there are benefits to limping vs. a passive moron, but to think that there are no benefits to limping in front of a maniac is short-sighted.

I limp here more than I raise. Against some opponents I bet the flop every time. Others, I bet, checkraise, check-call-bet, and check-fold about equally.
